The Official Newsletter of Cambridge PAC

Autumn 2006 newsletter

Hello and welcome to a new season at Cambs PAC.
We have a varied bunch of guys, fish and methods this year for you to listen to, so hopefully there will be something for everyone.  See the enclosed ‘what's on’ for more details.

If you are wondering why you have received this newsletter and have never been to a Cambridge PAC meeting before, it is because John Cahill (P.A.C. membership secretary) has provided us with the names and addresses of all members within the area.  As part of the new committee's drive, we are trying to encourage all members of the PAC to attend some of the regional meetings.

News
As you will probably know by now, after seven years of being R.O.  at Cambridge, Dick Culpin has decided to sit back and take it easy (no heckling from the back Dick!) and let Andrew and I take over as R.O.'s for Cambridge.  We can only say thanks to Dick for all of his efforts over the last few years and I am sure we would all like to thank Dick for his hard work in providing us with many evenings of fun and entertainment.

In the final meeting last season we spoke about changing the meeting day to a Thursday, to avoid European football nights, as we feel this affects attendance. Unfortunately we were not able to get the right night at the legion, and so rather than change the venue (which we think is excellent) we have decided to keep everything the way it is (first Wednesday of the month).

A ‘fish in’ was also discussed, and my thanks go to Colin Brett and Waterbeach Angling Club for providing us with a water to hold this event on.  The venue will be Leland water, Waterbeach Road, Landbeach sometime in Feb 2007. The price will be £12 for two rods and will include a barbecue and drinks, which Chris Hammond has kindly agreed to cook.  Chris‘s Newmarket sausage bonanza is legendary, just ask Blithfield anglers!  Leland water has produced pike to mid-twenties in the past and is possibly one of the most attractive lakes in the area.  Colin has also kindly agreed to do a pike fly fishing demonstration and Mark Philips will be throwing the plastic stuff.  Should be a great opportunity to see Mark ‘walk the dog’ etc with his Jerkbaits.  The day will be based on fun and ‘having a social’,  so if you want to reel your rods in, have a wander around the Lake chatting, eat the barbecue or watch one of the demonstrations,  your tackle should be safe on this enclosed venue.  Further details to be announced.
